A New Law Requiring Hearing Loops in Public Meeting Spaces

Dear Friends & Colleagues,

Now more than ever it is necessary to fit hearing instruments with a manually accessible T Coil program. Recent legislation was passed in New York City (NYC) that requires hearing loops to be installed in public meeting spaces where one or more assembly areas are included in construction or renovation with a baseline cost of $950,000 AND public meeting spaces that have security, information or receptions desks.

We will see an increase in hearing loop installations in NYC so let’s do our part in promoting hearing access by programming manually accessible T Coil programs so we can reduce barriers for people who live with hearing loss. This is applicable to those living in NYC and those living across the US and abroad who may visit NYC.
